Welcome to Firefly Hollow.

Come sit with me for a little while.

What is Firefly Hollow?

Firefly Hollow is a quiet place within The Elemental Lantern for stories, reflection, Field Notes, listening, and the small lights that invite us to notice what has been waiting to be seen.

It grew from a simple realization: sometimes we spend so much time building, creating, and moving forward that we forget to step back into our own lives. Firefly Hollow is my place for returning to curiosity, play, wonder, and the kind of attention that helps scattered pieces begin to feel whole again.

Where the Fireflies Began

The Field Note Fireflies arrived before Firefly Hollow had a name.

They began as a way of gathering the smaller observations that didn't necessarily need an entire Sunday Field Note of their own. A sentence. A wondering. A moment that caught my attention and asked me to look again.

I kept returning to the image of a firefly because of the way they illuminate. A firefly is not a lighthouse or a floodlight. It doesn't light everything at once or demand to be seen. It blinks close to the ground, offering just enough light to make you curious about what might be there.

An invitation to come closer.

That became the heart of the Field Note Fireflies. Small lights carrying something I noticed, wondered about, remembered, or heard in the middle of an ordinary moment. Not answers. Not instructions. Just little illuminations offered in case they awaken something in you, too.

What I didn't know when I created them was that I was following one myself.

After months of building, writing, creating, and looking outward, I heard a quiet realization one morning while chopping mushrooms in my kitchen:

I need to let myself play again.

That small light led me back toward wonder, toward the forest, toward the part of myself that experiences life before trying to explain it. And somewhere in that returning, Firefly Hollow appeared.

Suddenly I understood that the fireflies hadn't simply become something I was creating.

One of them had been blinking for me.

And I followed it home.

Handmade felt fairy in a green woodland setting beside a glowing firefly and lantern, with the words “Sometimes all we need is a small light.”
Handmade felted snail with a green spiral shell resting on a glowing woodland path beside a lantern and fireflies, with the words “A tiny light near the ground can make the whole world feel possible.”

There is more to discover...
